My husband and I had such a great experience when adopting our dogs from Lucky Paws and were so grateful that someone took the time to foster our dogs; that someone loved them and took care of them until we found them. We wanted to do the same for future dogs. Fostering is such a unique and special experience. Falling in love over and over with these dogs and then watching their new owners, so happy to take home their new fur-baby. It is a feeling like no other.
Thanks LP for saving this spaz, she completes our family. We weren't looking to add a dog but this girl wormed her way right into our hearts and now I can't imagine life without her.
I started fostering with Lucky Paws in May 2016 with a litter of 4 kittens pulled from a shelter where they were going to be euthanized to make room. The kittens were only 4 weeks old! My daughter and I fell in love and adopted 2. Since that time we've fostered around a dozen more kittens/cats and puppies/dogs. We will soon be adding 1 more to our family when we adopt our current foster puppy. Fostering has been an amazing experience for me and for my daughter. We love helping these animals connect with their forever families when just a short time before they were close to losing their lives.
I have experienced things with Lucky Paws that have forever changed how I see the dog world. I have learned so much while fostering in the past 3 years. I have been apart of something bigger than everyday life, I get to save lives! What's more meaningful then that? These dogs have changed my life, I have been given the greatest opportunity to be apart of their journey for a better life; all because of Lucky Paws. Sometimes it's hard but always so rewarding and fulfilling. Just a bunch of like minded caring people all trying to accomplish the same thing. Lucky Paws has always been supportive, genuine and they let me go at my own pace with out any pressure.
When I became an empty nester, I looked long and hard for a way to give back and feel useful again. Then I found Lucky Paws Rescue, and it was the beginning of a whole new life for me. I have fostered all kinds of dogs (and a couple of cats) over the past 2 years. Sometimes it’s an adorable little puppy and I get to be reminded of how much work that can be. (My “Shabby Chic” décor has morphed into “Early Animal Shelter.”) Sometimes it’s an adult with a tragic backstory that breaks my heart, and I think I won’t be able to handle it. But be careful what you wish for... I most definitely have found my purpose! This rescue has become central to my life, and the other foster parents are my peeps. We support one another without judgment, we brainstorm health and behavioral issues, and we make each other laugh when no one else understands. It’s the most wonderful group of truly dedicated animal lovers and I feel so fortunate to be a part of it.
My daughter fosters dogs with Lucky Paws and when she needed me to watch her dog Bruce (Whom she adobted with Lucky Paws) and the cute German Shepherd puppy she was fostering for the weekend turned into us adopting her (Mika). I was so impressed how Lucky Paws organization, screening of adoptions to make sure the dog is going to a good home, and the care of the animal before they release them. Mika is so smart, play full, and happy. We are so blessed to have her and to be a part of saving a dog and providing a loving and safe home.
